Does anyone now how to change the default MIDI channel that Samchillian outputs to?
Also, I love the program. Its exactly what I was looking for, especially the tone row!
Only thing is ... there's two thing I am not understanding how to use.
1.) The Serial function isn't exactly clear to me. How many notes can the Serial "tank" hold? Also, when I press "End" does that stop the gathering of notes, or stop serial mode?
2.) How do you use the .txt remapping file with the PC version? I would like to remap some stuff and use a keyboard to play Sam..
or wait, it just occurred to me. Is the .txt listing of scan keys just a mapping of midi notes to Sam functions.
Finally, is there anyway I can get the very newest PC version if it exists?
Thanks much. Fox

this 'manual' was written for the OS X version, but i think it answers your serial mode questions:

http://samchillian.com/samOSXmanual.html

in short: a tone row stops recording either at the number of notes in the scale, or sooner if you press "end" before that happens. it won't repeat a note, but actually will allow duplication at the octave - so really it's not a proper tone row, by 12 tone standards.

"End" will not do anything once the tone row is recorded and you are already cycling in 'play' mode. To return to normal samchillian functionality press "SER" (the serial start key) again.

regarding midi channel - i can barely remember(!) - is there not something in the preferences on this? at one time i recall even being able to put it in the command line preferences in a "PIF" file? see if you can figure it out and if not i can fire it up and see - pretty sure u can change the midi channel though.

txt remapping - yes the idea is that incoming MIDI notes can be mapped to samchillian functions. (so if you press middle 'c' you will get "+1", etc.) the idea is that it checks the file for an entry on a given MIDI note and if it finds it there it remaps it; otherwise it passes the MIDI command through, so if it's a note you will hear it, and if it's controller info it can add vibrato, etc.. somewhere on http://samchillian.com/standalonepc.html is a link to an explanation of this, and i think also to an email of the user who helped with this - maybe you can contact him.

i'm sorry to say that the pc version is not under current development so what is on the server is the most recent and isn't likely to be updated in the near future.
