Is the PC version supposed to work on Win98/ME?
All I ever get are Kernel32 errors.

Perhaps it's my sound card(s)?

To be fair, I've only tried it on 3 Win98 machines and one ME machine.
Alternately, it has worked on every WinXP machine I have tried. (4.)

i can assure you: the version only works with xp.
before the mac version came out i had (in addition to my mac) a PIII PC running xp only for samchillian...

i had the PC verson running on a dell with windows 2000
b4 i went to mac....
